BEIJING, May 17 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

CHINESE LUNAR ROVER

China's Yutu-2, the first rover on the far side of the moon, has found materials from deep inside the moon that could help unravel the mystery of the lunar mantle composition and the formation and evolution of the moon and the earth.

NEW-GENERATION ROCKETS

China has developed a number of new-generation carrier rockets to take the country's space industry to the next level.

The Long March-7 is a medium-sized carrier rocket with high reliability and safety. The Long March-9 rocket will be China's largest heavy-lift carrier rocket. The Long March-11 is a four-stage solid-fueled rocket that is used to launch payloads to low-Earth and sun-synchronous orbits.

COMMERCIAL TRANSPORT FLEET

China has seen a constant fast growth in the civil aviation industry with the commercial transport fleet reaching 3,639 by the end of 2018, said statistics released by civil aviation authorities.

The figure was 343 more than that at the end of 2017, said the latest civil aviation industry development statistical bulletin released by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). Enditem
