Kuwaiti non-oil exports up 30 pct in April

KUWAIT CITY, May 18 (Xinhua) -- Kuwait's non-oil exports rose 30 percent in April compared with the same period in 2018, Kuwait's Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced on Saturday.

The ministry said that the country's total exports were about 12.3 million Kuwaiti dinars (40.42 million U.S. dollars) compared with 8.8 million Kuwaiti dinars in 2018.

Kuwait's exports to Arab countries, excluding Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) state members, took up 5.1 million Kuwaiti dinars, while the part to the GCC countries stood at 1.9 million Kuwaiti dinars.

Iraq came first in non-GCC Arab countries importing Kuwaiti products, followed by Jordan, Lebanon, Algeria, Yemen, Egypt and Morocco, the ministry said.

As for the GCC countries, Saudi Arabia came first, followed by Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Bahrain.

In addition, Italy was the top country in importing Kuwaiti goods, followed by Belgium, France, Portugal, Turkey, Bulgaria and Spain, the ministry added.
