Taiwan sees 3.7 pct drop in export orders for April

TAIPEI, May 20 (Xinhua) -- Companies in Taiwan received fewer export orders in April, falling for the sixth consecutive month from the same period last year, the latest data showed Monday.

Export orders to Taiwan's firms lost 3.7 percent from a year earlier to 37.66 billion U.S. dollars last month, posting the sixth consecutive month of decline, according to the data by the island's economic affairs authorities.

For the first four months, Taiwan's export orders dropped 7.2 percent year on year to 145.64 billion dollars.

Month on month, the export orders in April decreased 2.4 percent from March.
