BAIC Motor eyes Taklimakan Rally's title

URUMQI, China, May 27 (Xinhua) -- BAIC Motor came close to the title of T1 4WD group of the Taklimakan Raaly on Monday, as they had booked top berths in overall ranking till the 6th stage.

"I will change my strategy in the rest of races," said the championship contender Liu Yangui, who will face strong challenge from his teammate, Lavieille Christian.

Zhao Hongyi, the rider of KTM2R2 Star, broke his two ribs and chose to quit before organizers decided to cancel the motorcycle's 6th stage, giving remaining riders another chance to rest up.

"Racers could not avoid crashes and injuries in rally. I still aim at winning the championship," reigning rider Armand Hernandez said, who went to hospital to look his teammate after maintaining the lead in the 5th stage.

The second official rest-up day will hold on Tuesday before moving on to Yu Tian county.
