BEIRUT, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Israeli forces threw on Monday smoke bombs toward a village in southern Lebanon, after local young men cut off wires of monitoring devices placed by Israel on the borders, the National News Agency (NNA) reported.

The Lebanese young men, however, cut off the wires after Israeli forces destroyed photos of Musa al-Sadr, a Shiite religious leader, NNA said.

Late in 2018, the Israeli army launched the Northern Shield operation to locate and destroy tunnels allegedly dug by Lebanon's Hezbollah into northern Israel.

Israel also accuses the Lebanese Shiite party of hiding secret missiles near Lebanon's Rafic Hariri International Airport.

Israel and Hezbollah fought a month-long war in 2006 which ended in a cease-fire.
