WUHAN, May 29 (Xinhua) -- The golf test event for the 2019 Military World Games and the third event of the 2019 China Tour opened in Wuhan on Wednesday, attracting more than 130 golfers from 10 countries and regions.

Among the players expected to compete at the top of the leaderboard are Liu Yanwei and Chen Zihao, two members from China's Olympic golf squad, and Xiao Bowen and Jin Cheng, who both compete on the PGA Asia Tour.

At the end of the first day, seven of the top ten golfers are Chinese, with Chen Zihao ranked second, behind South Korea's Jung Woo-jin.

The competition serves as a test event for the 2019 Military World Games to be staged in Wuhan later this year, with extensive examinations of venue facilities, competition equipment, organization and service to be conducted.

Several golfers praised the tricky nature of the Wuhan course's layout, with clear undulating terrain and a narrow track. "We've played on many different courses. However, this course is more challenging because it has a very narrow fairway," said participant Sun Yicheng.
