PRAGUE, May 29 (Xinhua) -- The Global Goals World Cup (GGWCUP), a unique amateur soccer tournament for women to support the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), was held in Prague on Thursday.

More than 24 teams joined the event, which was for the first time introduced in the country.

In 2015, the United Nations set 17 global goals including health, education, gender equality, water, sanitation, energy, urbanization, environment and social justice.

To register for the competition, each team needs to pick one of the 17 Global Goals to advocate. The winner will get a chance to participate in the world finals of the Global Goals World Cup in New York. The finals will take place in September 2019 during the session of the UN General Assembly.
