TOKYO, June 4 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks ended flat after swinging in and out of positive and negative territory Tuesday, as trade tensions and a firm yen continued to hamper the market.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 2.34 points, or 0.01 percent, from Monday to close the day at 20,408.54.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, edged 0.13 point, or 0.01 percent, higher to finish at 1,499.09.

Services, and information and communication issues led notable decliners, while iron and steel, and marine transportation issues comprised those that gained the most by the close of play.
