LUANDA, June 6 (Xinhua) -- China is willing to strengthen pragmatic cooperation with Angola and enhance parliamentary exchanges between the two countries, said a visiting Chinese senior official.

During his stay here, Wang Chen, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, met with Angolan President Joao Lourenco and Acting Speaker of the Angolan National Assembly Emilia Carlota Dias.

When meeting Lourenco, Wang, also vice chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress, first conveyed cordial greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping and recalled the two meetings between the two leaders in Beijing last year, during which they reached important consensus and charted the course of the bilateral relations.

China is willing to work with Angola to deepen political mutual trust, strengthen mutual support on issues of core interests and major concerns, enhance mutually beneficial cooperation, promote the Belt and Road construction, and expand exchanges in education, culture and tourism, said Wang.

He also called for close international cooperation to oppose unilateralism, safeguard free trade, defend the common interests of developing countries, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Lourenco asked Wang to convey his sincere wishes to President Xi and expressed appreciation for the valuable support China has provided for the country's cause of national liberation and economic and social development.

Strengthening pragmatic cooperation with China is Angola's unwavering strategic choice, said the president.
