TOKYO, June 7 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Friday following U.S. shares advancing overnight, as investor sentiment was bolstered by hopes Washington will delay slapping tariffs on Mexican imports.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 56.65 points, or 0.27 percent, from Thursday to 20,830.69.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 0.50 point, or 0.03 percent, at 1,525.41.

Oil and coal product, mining and precision instrument-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
