BEIJING, June 7 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

TSINGHUA-HUAWEI COOPERATION

China's prestigious Tsinghua University has signed a cooperation framework agreement with tech giant Huawei to build a joint research and development platform.

The partnership will not only boost the company's innovation capacity and competitiveness in information and communication technology, but also promote the university's knowledge transfer, according to a statement issued by the university.

5G LICENSES

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on Thursday granted 5G licenses for commercial use, marking the beginning of a new era in the country's telecommunication industry.

China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom and China Broadcasting Network are the first batch of companies that obtained the 5G licenses.

HUAWEI 5G CONTRACTS

Chinese telecom giant Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. said Thursday that it had obtained 46 commercial 5G contracts so far in 30 countries globally.

It has shipped more than 100,000 5G base stations, ranking top in the world, according to the company. Enditem
