KUWAIT CITY, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Kuwait on Wednesday strongly condemned a missile attack launched by Yemen's Houthi militia on a civilian airport in southern Saudi Arabia.

The "despicable" attack on Abha Airport not only threatens Saudi Arabia's security but is a dangerous escalation in hostilities, the Kuwait's Foreign Ministry said in a statement, highlighting Kuwait's steadfast support for Saudi Arabia.

Earlier in the day, the Saudi-owned Al Arabiya television cited a coalition statement as saying that a missile fired from Yemen hit the arrivals hall at Abha airport, about 200 km north of Yemen's border, injuring at least 26 people, including three women and two children.

The coalition accused Houthis of using Iranian-made weapon, which the Houthis denied by saying it was a long-range cruise missile.
