BEIJING, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.05 percent to finish at 2,910.74 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.03 percent lower at 8,951.61 points.
The combined turnover of stocks in the two indices stood at 449.7 billion yuan (about 65.23 billion U.S. dollars), shrinking from 513.4 billion yuan the previous trading day.
Gainers outnumbered losers by 903 to 460 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,415 to 642 on the Shenzhen bourse.
The motorcycle sector gained most across the board. Lifan Industry (Group) Co. Ltd. shares rose by 6.33 percent to close at 4.37 yuan per share.
Stocks of the household appliance industry, however, lost ground. Joyoung Co. Ltd. dropped by 2.99 percent to 19.49 yuan per share.
The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.4 percent to close at 1,479.83 points on Thursday.
