TEHRAN, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Andrea Stramaccioni has signed a contract to be the head coach of the Iranian soccer club, Esteghlal, Tehran Times daily reported on Thursday.
The 43-year-old coach has signed a two-year contract worth 1.6 million euros per year.
The Italian tactician best known for his spells in charge of Inter and Udinese.
He has had more fascinating adventures in recent years, working at Panathinaikos and Sparta Prague.
Stramaccioni has replaced German coach Winfried Schaefer, who was sacked from his role following his poor results in late April. Esteghlal finished 3rd in the Persian Gulf Pro League last season.
