BEIJING, June 16 (Xinhua) -- French musical "Romeo & Juliette" has started a tour in China recently with a show in Beijing Century Theatre.
Adapted from William Shakespeare's world renowned tragedy of the same name, "Romeo & Juliette" retells the 400-year-old story about love, hatred and power struggle, with a modern twist brought by French composer Gerard Presgurvic's popular music and contemporary choreography.
Debuted in 2000 in Paris, the musical has hit stages of some 20 countries, with millions of viewers in total. It toured China in 2016 for the first time.
This time it will meet audiences in Xi'an, Nanjing, Suzhou, Guangzhou and Hong Kong after the Beijing show.
