PARIS, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Argentina climbed out of an early hole, remaining a slight last 16 hope of Women's World Cup here on Wednesday after an end-to-end 3-3 thriller against Scotland.

Scotland were up by three goals after 69 minutes, but the the Albiceleste ran riot with three goals in a 25-minute span to complete a marvelous comeback.

Both sides kept hope to move into the next stage before Wednesday's match, and Scotland took a 1-0 in the first half as Kim Little found the net in the 19th minute on a Erin Cuthbert pass.

The European side surged into a 3-0 lead 24 minutes after the break with a pair of strikes from Jenny Beattie and Cuthbert.

However, Argentina put on a show after that as they pulled two goals back in 5 five minutes including an own goal from Scottish goalkeeper Lee Alexander.

The game culminated in the dying minutes as the referee awarded Argentina a penalty confirmed by VAR and Florencia Bonsegundo stepped up to convert it.
