IOC president expects Beijing 2022 mascot to show Chinese philosophy

LAUSANNE, June 22 (Xinhua) -- International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach on Saturday expected mascot for China's first-ever Winter Olympics to show Chinese philosophy and aware of life.

The mascot of Beijing 2022 will be unveiled in the second half of 2019, according to the organizers.

On the eve of the 125th IOC anniversary, Bach told Xinhua, "This is up to the Chinese people and they always have a very good feeling to find the good samples for their philosophy and their aware of life. I'm sure the mascot will be friendly welcoming one."

Bach made the remarks after the kick-off of the Olympic Capital Run, which this year attracted over 2,000 participants accompanied by internationally famous Olympic medalists and Olympians.

On the Olympic Day of June 23, Beijing 2022 will also organize a running activity at the 2019 world horticultural expo, which is held in Yanqing of Beijing, one of the three competition zones of Beijing 2022.

Bach is happy to share the anniversary with Chinese friends. "We are happy to share the 125th anniversary of the IOC with our Chinese friends. We are waiting eagerly for the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 which will be another great celebration of Olympic sports and values."
