NANJING, China, June 23 (Xinhua) -- Dutch star B-boy Menno Van Gorp added another significant title to his glorious career as he won the first edition of the WDSF World Breaking Championships after beating Japan's Issei Hori in the final battle here on Sunday.

Japan's B-girl Yuasa Ami became the female champion after overcoming Grace Sun, known as Sunny, of the United States.

Over 200 B-boys and B-girls from 66 countries and regions, including many established breaking dancers like the two-time Red Bull BC One World Champion Menno and 2018 Youth Olympics winner Sergei Chernyshev (Bumblebee), competed in the inaugural tournament.

"Almost 90 percent of the world elite breaking dancers have come here to battle for the world titles, some of them have already been world champions in other competitions," one of the judges Wang kunjiong said.

The 39-year-old Wang, known as his nickname Danny, was one of the B-boy pioneers in China and has won many national and international titles.

Chinese B-girl Zeng Yingying was the only local dancer making into the last four but was knocked out by Sunny in the semifinals. She then lost to Germany's Sanja Jilwan (Jilou) in the third-place playoff.

Oleksandr Gatyn-Lozynskyi (Lussy Sky) of Ukraine outlasted Venezuela's Gibrahimer Beomont (Lil G) in the B-boy's bronze medal match.

Breakdancing, which has made its successful Olympic debut at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, was proposed for provisional inclusion at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The World DanceSports Federation is continuing to promote it worldwide and the championships in Nanjing is also one of the qualifying events for the first GAISF World Urban Games in Budapest, Hungry in September 2019.
