DOHA, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Qatar on Monday announced new investments worth a total of three billion U.S. dollars in the form of deposits and direct investments to Pakistan, according to a statement by the Qatari Foreign Ministry.

"The Qatari support comes after Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani's visit to Pakistan to underscore the deep relations between the two brotherly countries and peoples," Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said in a statement released by Qatar News Agency (QNA).

He said Qatar's financial support for Pakistan also expresses Doha's confidence in the strength of Pakistan's economy and the vision and good management of the current government headed by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

"By announcing this new investment package on Monday, the size of the Qatari-Pakistani economic partnership will amount to nine billion U.S. dollars," said the Qatari foreign minister.

The Qatari emir had a two-day state visit to Pakistan on June 22-23 for talks on bilateral issues, focusing on economic cooperation.
