RIYADH, June 25 (Xinhua) -- The Saudi-led coalition announced on Tuesday the arrest of Abu Osama al-Muhajir, the leader of the Islamic State (IS) in Yemen, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Coalition spokesperson Col. Turki al-Malki said the operation was conducted by Saudi special forces in cooperation with Yemeni government's special forces on June 3.

The Yemen-branch IS chief financial officer and some other members were also arrested in the operation, he said.

Close surveillance on a house showed the presence of the terrorist group leader and other elements, along with three women and three children, Malki added.

No injuries were reported among the women and children inside the house, nor was there any collateral damage to civilians, he noted.

Several weapons, ammunition, laptops, computers, cash in various currencies, electronic devices, GPS and communication devices and other possessions were seized in the operation.
