Foreign teams arrive in Uganda for Africa Basketball Zone V qualifiers

KAMPALA, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Teams from four countries have arrived in Uganda head of the start of the Africa Basketball Zone V qualifiers scheduled for June 26-July 1 in the capital Kampala.

The men's and women's competitions will all be played on a round robin basis.

Teams from Rwanda, Egypt, Kenya and Tanzania will field teams against hosts Uganda in the men's and women's competition.

"We expect a very tough tournament because most teams are good," Uganda's captain Steven Omony told Xinhua on Tuesday.

In the fixtures made on Tuesday, Uganda men will open against arch-rivals Kenya, while Egypt take on the experienced Rwanda side.

The best two teams will qualify for the inaugural Federation of International Basketball Association AfroCan tournament which will be hosted by Mali.
