SHENZHEN, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Police in southern Chinese metropolis Shenzhen have busted over 1,800 cases of drug crime over the past year, the city's anti-drug office said Wednesday.

They have arrested more than 2,560 suspects and seized 2.76 tonnes of drugs since June of last year, said Deng Guangsheng, deputy director of the office.

In one major drug-trafficking case in April, Shenzhen police arrested eight suspects, seized 118 kg of cocaine and 1 kg of ketamine. Five suspects had connection with overseas gangs, according to Deng.

Drug addiction rehabilitation stations have been established in the city's 53 sub-districts.

Shenzhen has also promoted anti-drug publicity and education activities in schools.
