TUNIS, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Some parties and organizations in Tunisia denounced on Wednesday the economic workshop in Manama, Bahrain under the title "Peace to Prosperity."

The leftist Popular Current Party described the event jointly organized by Bahrain and the United States as "a workshop for flagrant aggression on the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people," the party said in a statement.

The U.S. administration claims that the two-day workshop, which kicked off on Tuesday, represents an opportunity to settle the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

In addition to the Popular Current's statement, other parties and associations in Tunisia issued a joint statement on Wednesday, voicing rejection against the workshop.

The Democratic Current, a social democratic political party founded in 2013, stressed support for the Palestinian people's effort to restore their rights to an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

"The U.S. administration's attempt to pass the so-called 'Deal of the Century' is simply nothing but a second Balfour Declaration to terminate the Palestinians' legitimate rights and just cause," the party said in a statement.

Noureddine Taboubi, secretary-general of the Tunisian General Labor Union, called for protests on July 7 in support of the Palestinian issue. Enditem
