DAR ES SALAAM, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Tanzanian police have arrested 12 Ethiopian illegal immigrants who were hiding in a forest in the east African nation's eastern district of Mvomero in Morogoro region, an immigration official said on Wednesday.
Angela Shija, a senior immigration official in Morogoro region, said the immigrants were in transit to South Africa.
In March this year, Tanzanian Minister for Home Affairs, Kangi Lugola, warned the masterminds behind the influx of illegal immigrants into the east African nation.
The minister directed the Department of Immigration to work closely with the police force in unearthing the illegal immigrants. Enditem
