MADRID, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Valencia have made official the purchase of Dutch international goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen from FC Barcelona at a price thought to be around 35 million euros (39.7 million U.S. dollars).

The 30-year-old goalkeeper has agreed a four-year contract with a buyout clause of 80 million euros.

The deal sees Barcelona make a profit of around 20 million euros on the goalkeeper they purchased for 15 million euros from Ajax in 2016, although they will spend most of the transfer fee in signing Valencia's Brazilian keeper Norberto Neto as his replacement.

Despite performing well whenever given the chance at Barca, Cillessen had to be content with being second-choice keeper during his years at the Camp Nou, with German international Marc-Andre Ter Stegen preferred in La Liga and the Champions League, leaving Cillessen to play only Copa del Rey matches.

"This is very special for me and I am looking forward to starting. I am very happy to be here. I said I wanted to come to Valencia and it was not a difficult decision to make," said Cillessen.

Valencia finished fourth in La Liga last season to qualify for next year's UEFA Champions League, and ended the season on a high note by beating Barcelona 2-1 to win the Copa del Rey.
