TOKYO, July 1 ( Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened sharply higher on Monday.
As of 9:15 a.m. local time, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 347.07 points, or 1.63 percent, from Friday to 21,622.99.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, was up 23.28 points, or 1.50 percent, at 1,574.42.
Every industry category on the main section gained ground, led by marine transportation, security houses and electric appliance issues. Enditem
