TOKYO, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks gained slightly Tuesday morning as investor sentiment was buoyed by a solid performance by U.S. stocks overnight.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 24.82 points, or 0.11 percent, from Monday to 21,754.79.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 2.50 points, or 0.16 percent, at 1,587.35.
Marine transportation, insurance and construction-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
