BAGHDAD, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi said on Tuesday that the oil companies in his country are operating in a safe and stable environment despite recent attacks on oil facilities.

"There has been no serious security breach that could hamper the work of these companies," Mahdi told a press conference after a weekly cabinet meeting.

On June 19, a Katyusha rocket landed on a headquarters of the Iraqi Oil Drilling Company near a site hosting several international oil companies, including the U.S. ExxonMobil, in the west of the city of Basra.
