KUWAIT CITY, July 3 (Xinhua) -- Kuwait's International Airport will start using facial recognition technology for better passenger handling, Kuwait's civil aviation authority said Wednesday.

The technology will be used at the airport's newly built Terminal 4 for a trial period of three months, said Yousef Al-Fouzan, director general of Kuwait's Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

The biometric technology is part of a digital strategy put in place at the airport, where passenger and flight information will be available upon facial recognition, he noted.

In addition, the system will also be able to locate the whereabouts of passengers at all times, resulting in better airport services, he explained.

Kuwait built the new airport terminal last year as part of its 2035 development plan, hoping it would push the country towards becoming a global financial and commercial hub.
