TOKYO, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Thursday morning as investor sentiment was bolstered following record closing highs on Wall Street overnight as tech issues rallied and concerns about global trade eased.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 61.77 points, or 0.29 percent, from Wednesday to 21,699.93.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 8.14 points, or 0.52 percent, at 1,587.68.
Real estate, securities houses and retail-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
