CHENGDU, China, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Wang Shuang thanked Paris Saint-Germain for giving her the opportunity to play in France for one season, saying she might still play overseas if she gets another chance.

The French capital club announced on Friday that Paris Saint-Germain and the Chinese international have reached an agreement to terminate Wang's contract, due to expire in June 2020.

Talking to local media here in Sichuan Province, Wang said she made the decision for many reasons. "I cannot go further with PSG, but I'm grateful for PSG giving me the opportunity to step onto a big stage of life, to let more people know me, and to let me have bigger future," Wang said.

Wang signed a two-year deal with PSG last August and joined the club a month later. Last season she made 27 appearances for PSG, scoring eight goals and setting up seven assists as they won the Ligue 1 championship and reached the quarter-finals of UEFA Champions League. She was named AFC Women's Player of the Year in November 2018, becoming the fourth Chinese player to win the award.

She came back from the FIFA Women's World Cup, where China lost in the round of 16. As for her performance, Wang said: "I am a very determined player, I am not satisfied with my performance in this World Cup. In the next four years, I hope I can better seize the opportunity when the next World Cup comes round."

"We can also see from the World Cup that the women's football is developing so fast and the level is getting higher and higher. Seeing a lot of other teams' development, I hope we will not be left too far behind." Wang said.
