NANJING, China, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Reigning champions United States defeated China 25-11, 15-25, 25-17, 25-20 at the semifinals of the 2019 FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League (VNL) here on Saturday.

The American team will face Brazil, who had an overwhelming straight-set win against Turkey, in the final of the tournament which will be held on Sunday night.

Annie Drews and Michelle Bartsch-Hackley each recorded 21 points to lift the United States, outscoring China's top point-maker Liu Yanhan who had 17 points. Kelsey Robinson added 15 points.

The Americans had an easy opening set as they totally controlled the game and led at 16-5. China's coach An Jiajie had to call time-out twice, but could not stop the United States running to the victory of the set.

The situation is completely reversed in the second set as China sent libero Lin Li on the court. China soon established an 8-4 lead and their performance got better and better and took the set 25-15 with a pair of solid blocks.

The United States soon recovered in the following sets, managing a lead in tight contest in the third and fourth sets. China fought back hardly but gave away too many points of errors and could not narrow the gap.

Earlier on Saturday, Brail beat last year's runner-up Turkey 25-23, 25-15, 25-10 in the other semifinals.
