LUSAKA, July 7 (Xinhua) -- The following are news items in Zambia's major media outlets on Sunday.

-- The Zambia Civil Society Scaling-Up Nutrition Alliance, an advocacy organization for good nutrition, says a bill present by the government meant to promote food safety was not responsive to private-sector needs.

Mathews Mhuru, the organization's country coordinator, said a substantial part of the Food Safety Bill presented recently in parliament was dedicated to policing and not providing public services to ensure food safety. (Times of Zambia)

-- The Zambian government has urged men in the country to take interest in maternal health issues to help reduce maternal mortality rates.

Ministry of Health assistant director for reproductive health Angel Mwiche said most men do not take maternal health seriously because they think it was a woman's responsibility. (Zambia Daily Mail)

-- Zambian President Edgar Lungu has emphasized that the introduction of Alumni in schools will complement government efforts to enhance and intensify education delivery in schools.

Speaking during the launch Alumni at his former school in Kitwe city on the Copperbelt Province, the Zambian leader said concerted partnership between the government and the Alumni would create a positive impact in taking the education sector forward. (Daily Nation)

-- Zambia's electoral body has launched a delimitation exercise aimed at adjusting electoral boundaries to incorporate newly-created districts.

Electoral Commission of Zambia chairperson Justice Esau Chulu said during the launch that electoral boundaries need to be adjusted to ensure that all the new districts have at least one constituency and also realign the boundaries of wards an constituencies that may have been affected by the creation of new districts.
