Rapinoe wins Golden Ball & Boot after scoring in Women's World Cup final

LYON, France, July 7 (Xinhua) -- U.S. co-captain Megan Rapinoe was awarded both the Golden Ball and the Golden Boot after coming out the oldest scorer in the FIFA Women's World Cup final here on Sunday.

The 34 years and two months old American striker, who opened the scoring through a penalty shot in the 61st minute to help the United States win 2-0 over the Netherlands, was named the Best Player by the FIFA Technical Study Group (TSG).

Lucy Bronze of England and Rose Lavelle of USA came second and third respectively.

Rapinoe also took the Golden Boot award with six goals and three assists in 428 minutes played, narrowly edging out teammate and Silver Boot winner Alex Morgan with an equal tally and 490 minutes played.

The Bronze Boot was awarded to Ellen White of England with six goals and no assists.

Netherlands' goalkeeper Sari Van Veenendaal collected the Golden Glove, and Germany's Giulia Gwinn took home the FIFA Young Player award, both selected by the FIFA Technical Study Group.

Hosts France were awarded the Fair Play award finishing first in the fair play contest.
