North Macedonia's consumer price index up by 0.3 pct in June

SKOPJE, July 8 (Xinhua) -- North Macedonia's Consumer Price Index (CPI) in June this year increased by 0.3 percent year-on-year, a report from the State Statistical Office (SSO) showed on Monday.

According to the data, the CPI in June was was 98.9 in comparison with the previous month, whereas the Retail Price Index was 99.3.

In this period, the data show a decrease in the CPI by 20.3 percent in fresh or chilled vegetables, by 0.5 percent in edible offal and by 0.3 percent in sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery.

In June, there was also a 3.5 percent decrease in the indices of liquid fuels and lubricants for personal transport equipment, 2.4 percent drop in indices for liquid fuels for household, and 1.7 percent dip in indices of cleaning and maintenance of the dwelling, the SSO data indicated.

Meanwhile, in this period the CPI registered an increase by 3.9 percent in fresh or chilled fruit, by 0.7 percent in other bakery products and by 0.4 percent in bread and cereals, meat, dried, salted, or smoked meat, dried fruit and nuts.

"In June 2019, there was also an increase in the CPI for the package holidays by 3.8 percent, passenger transport by air by 3.1 percent, photographic and cinematographic equipment and optical instruments by 1.5 percent and passenger transport by road by 0.9 percent," stated the report.
