JINAN, July 10 (Xinhua) -- The passenger throughput of nine airports in east China's Shandong Province saw a 10 percent year-on-year growth, hitting 29.73 million in the first half this year, local airport sources said Wednesday.

The number is expected to exceed 60 million by the end of the year, according to the Shandong Provincial Airport Management Group.

According to Wang Weizhong, head of the group, among the nine airports, the one in the city of Yantai will handle more than 10 million passengers by the end of the year, which will make the province home to three 10 million-class airports including two in the cities of Jinan and Qingdao.

The coastal province received 860 million tourists last year, with its tourism consumption exceeding 1 trillion yuan (145.3 billion U.S. dollars), up 13.7 percent year on year, according to the Shandong Provincial Bureau of Statistics.
