HANOI, July 10 (Xinhua) -- The police of Vietnam's northern Thanh Hoa province have detained two local men for transporting and possessing 2 kg of crystal methamphetamine, 10 cakes of heroin and 65 lumps of explosive weighing 32.5 kg.
The men, aged 28 and 35, both from central Nghe An province, were arrested on Tuesday in Thanh Hoa's Tinh Gia district, Vietnam News Agency reported on Wednesday.
The duo confessed that they had transported the drug and the explosive from Nghe An to Thanh Hoa for sale.
According to the Vietnamese law, those convicted of smuggling over 600 grams of heroin or more than 2.5 kg of methamphetamine are punishable by death. Making or trading 100 grams of heroin or 300 grams of other illegal drugs also faces death penalty. Enditem
