Former Iraqi PM says welcomes Lebanese businessmen to invest in Iraq

BEIRUT, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Former Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi invited on Wednesday Lebanese businessmen to visit Iraq and explore investment opportunities, Lebanon's Presidency said.

"We have discussed with Lebanese President Michel Aoun the possibility of creating partnership between Lebanese and Iraqi businessmen and we will be following up on our agreements to make sure they are put in action very soon," Allawi said following his meeting with Aoun in Beirut.

Iraq is keen to benefit from the Lebanese expertise in the banking sector, he added.

For his part, Aoun said Lebanon is also eager to enhance relations with Iraq in different areas.
