SHANGHAI, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Eight teams will feature the 2019 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) Summer League/Cross-Strait Yangtze River Delta Professional Basketball Club Challenge slated for July 24-28, organizers said here on Thursday.
The eight teams include two from Chinese Taipei and six CBA clubs that will compete in two round-robin groups in the Shanghai Baoshan Gymnasium.
After a draw made on the spot, Group A includes Taiwan Beer Basketball Team, and CBA teams Shandong West King, Jiangsu Dragons, and Fujian Sturgeons, while Group B is composed of Fubon Braves, CBA teams Shanghai Jiushi, Nanjing Tongxi, and Zhejiang Chouzhou.
There will be 18 games during the five-day league/challenge, and the CBA Draft will be conducted with the participation of grassroots players, aiming to promote face-to-face communication between professionals and future basketball talents.
The organizers hoped the event will serve as a platform to promote sports, cultural and people-to-people exchanges, cooperation and communication across the Strait.
It's the second time that teams from Chinese Taipei attend the league/challenge.
