RIO DE JANEIRO, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Flamengo have completed the signing of Spanish central defender Pablo Mari from Manchester City, the Brazilian Serie A club said on Thursday.
Mari will be tied to the Rio de Janeiro outfit until December 2022 after Manchester City reportedly agreed to a transfer fee of 1.3 million euros (1.5 million U.S. dollars).
Flamengo announced the news by welcoming the the 25-year-old in a brief social media post.
Mari, who had one year remaining on his City contract, spent last season on loan at Deportivo La Coruna.
Flamengo are currently third in Brazil's 20-team Serie A standings after nine rounds, eight points behind leaders Palmeiras.
Five-time top flight champions Flamengo are managed by former Benfica and Sporting Lisbon boss Jorge Jesus, who replaced Abel Braga in June. Enditem
