Taiwan's farm produce exports rise in first half of 2019

TAIPEI, July 12 (Xinhua) -- Taiwan's exports of farm produce rose to 1.16 million tonnes in the first half of 2019, 11.3 percent higher than the same period of last year, the island's agricultural authorities said Friday.

The exports were worth 85.3 billion new Taiwan dollars (about 2.74 billion U.S. dollars) in total, growing 6.5 percent year on year, authorities said.

Major farm produce for exports included rice, fresh fruits, tea, flowers, and aquaculture, with exports of fresh fruits rising 48.7 percent year on year to 4.2 billion new Taiwan dollars.

Taiwan's farm produce was mainly exported to the Chinese mainland, Japan, the United States, Vietnam, and Hong Kong in the first half of this year, authorities said.
