BEIJING, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Boosted by the fast growth of China's new energy vehicle industry, the number of charging posts across the country has exceeded 1 million by the end of June, according to the Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Promotion Alliance.

This represents a year-on-year growth of 69.3 percent, the alliance said.

Among all the charging posts, 412,000 are public and about 590,000 are private.

China's auto sales remained sluggish in the first half of the year after a weak performance in 2018, registering a 12.4-percent drop year on year.

However, the new energy vehicle sector continued to report robust growth during the first half, with sales rising 49.6 percent. In June, its sales surged 80 percent year on year, data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers showed Wednesday.
