JAKARTA, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Rescuers retrieved two bodies and were searching for 11 others who went missing after a boat with 15 people on board capsized off Indonesia's eastern province of West Papua, a senior rescuer said on Sunday.

The boat departed from Sorong on Friday and was heading to Raja Ampat when it sank in the waters off Raja Ampat, said Yusuf Latief, head of communication for media at the national search and rescue office.

However, he did not elaborate when the boat went down.

"The boat capsized after being hit by huge waves," he told Xinhua.

Rescuers from the province have been conducting search and rescue mission for the 11 missing passengers.

Two of the passengers had been rescued, said Latief.

Boat is a preferred transport means in the vast archipelagic country. Slack safety standards have often caused incidents at sea.
