LONDON, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Premier League champions Manchester City are struggling to get to Nanjing on time to play their first game in the Premier League Asia Trophy against West Ham on Wednesday.

The side coached by Pep Guardiola was due to fly from Manchester on Saturday, but their flight was cancelled due to administrative problems with the travel company.

The issue had still not been resolved by Monday morning local time, meaning City will not land until Tuesday at the earliest, leaving only 24 hours to recover from jetlag and also for muscles to recover after a flight lasting over 11 hours.

It also means the club probably won't be able to carry out media duties ahead of their opening game.

City are due to spend a week in China before travelling to Japan.

A club spokesman explained the delay was "due to an unforeseen administrative issue beyond the club's control, which is being resolved, regrettably, we will embark on our pre-season tour a little later than intended."

Meanwhile the Premier League commented on the situation as well, saying that "Manchester City have experienced administration issues. It is being addressed and it will not affect their participation in the Premier League Asia Trophy. We look forward to welcoming them to Shanghai and Nanjing."

Newcastle United and the Wolves are also competing in the Premier League Asia Trophy.
