WARSAW, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Polish hammer thrower Anita Wlodarczyk, the first woman in history to throw over 80 meters, is set to miss the world championships in Doha to be held in September this year due to a knee surgery.

A gifted hammer thrower, the 33-year-old Wlodarczyk is the 2012 and 2016 Olympic champion and holds the women's world record of 82.98m. She has even been described as the best female hammer thrower ever by some media outlets.

Wlodarczyk recently updated her Instagram saying "The goal is one: #Tokyo 2020."
