SANAA, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Yemen's Houthis launched bomb-laden drone attacks at Jizan airport in southwestern Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, the group said in a statement.

"The drones hit military targets in the airport," it said.

It was the second attempted attack in fewer than 24 hours. There is no confirmation of the attack from the Saudi side yet.

The Houthi forces have recently stepped up missile and drone attacks on Saudi Arabia, but most of the missiles and drones were intercepted by Saudi air forces.

Saudi Arabia has been leading an Arab military coalition against the Iran-allied Houthis in Yemen for more than four years in support of the exiled internationally recognized government of Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
