NAIROBI, July 20 (Xinhua) -- World junior steeplechase champion Celliphine Chespol believes the quest for national team ticket will be harder than winning gold at the World Championships in Doha, Qatar in October.

The 21-year-old having proved her dominance in the steeplechase as a junior was no fluke as she has carved a niche for herself in the senior cadre and hopes she will be at the peak to seal her spot in Kenya team on August 18 in Nairobi.

On Saturday, Chespol proved her mantle when she won the Kenya prisons championships, albeit in the longer 5,000m contest.

"I always enter a race with purpose to win. Today is my first win in 5,000m but I know it will be challenging at the trials to select Kenya team. I was just using this event for my endurance ahead of trials because currently I am focused on making it to the world championship team in the steeplechase," said Chespol on Saturday in Nairobi.
