NCPA Drama Jane Eyre

Time: 7:30 p.m., July 26-Aug. 3

Place: Theater, National Center for the Performing Arts

Introduction:

"Jane Eyre," a novel by Charlotte Bronte, was first published in 1847. Widely considered as a classic, the novel realistically portrayed the inner life of a woman, noting her struggles with her natural desires and social condition.

The NCPA drama "Jane Eyre" was premiered in June 2009. This was the first version of this literary classic on the Chinese drama stage, with the famous Wang Xiaoying as director and Yu Rongjun as playwright. In the past 10 years, the drama has been not only presented at the NCPA for several rounds, but also invited to hold the spotlight at the Beijing People's Art Theater and the National Theater of China. Its national tour swept Shanghai, Chongqing, Hangzhou and other cities.

Yan He's Dance Work My Way

Time: 7:30 p.m., July 21 & 22

Place: Multi-functional Theater, National Center for the Performing Arts

Introduction:

This dance performance stars the famous Chinese female dancer Yan He. Inside the performance space, ice bricks are stacked into a ring-shaped "ice city wall." Atop the wall, a crystal clear ring device "rains" with colors changing from transparent, red, yellow to the final blue. Dancers rotate, jump and run in the device. With every step taken, the ice slowly melts and becomes a visualized concept of the elapsing of time.

Movie Papillon

Time: Starting from July 26

Place: All cinemas in Beijing

Introduction:

Based on the international best-selling autobiographic books "Papillon" and "Banco," the film follows the epic story of Henri "Papillon" Charriere (Charlie Hunnam), a safecracker from the Parisian underworld who is framed for murder and condemned to life in the notorious penal colony on Devil's Island.
