TEHRAN, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Iran urged Brazil to allow refueling of Iranian ships in its ports, according to Press TV report on Wednesday.

Otherwise, Iran will stop annual imports of two billion U.S. dollars worth of commodities from the Latin American country, Ali Saghaeyan, Iran's ambassador in Brasilia, said.

Two Iranian ships are stranded off the Brazilian coasts because Brazilian state oil company Petrobras is refusing to fuel them under the pressure of U.S. sanctions against Tehran, the report said.

Saghaeyan said Tuesday that Tehran could easily find new suppliers of corn, soybeans and meat, which it imports from Brazil, if the South American country refuses to permit the refueling of the vessels.

"I told the Brazilians that they should solve the issue," Saghaeyan said, adding that "If it's not solved, maybe the authorities in Tehran may want to take some decision because this is a free market and other countries are available."
