As a master artist in the Chicago Blues Hall of Fame, Sumito Ariyoshi, better known as Ariyo, had been studying classical piano since he was three years old. Like many others, Ariyo started educating himself by taking a deep dive into recording by legendary artists like Muddy Waters, Otis Rush, and Little Brother Montgomery.
The trio performs in Beijing from Thursday to Friday, also featuring bassist and vocalist Hiroshi Eguchi and drummer Zhijun Wu.
-- Drama "Jane Eyre"

The Chinese-language stage-version of Jane Eyre, produced by China's National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA), will stage a new round of performances from July 26 to Aug. 3, marking the 10th anniversary since it premiered.
As the first NCPA drama, "Jane Eyre" adds luster to the NCPA for over a decade. With Wang Xiaoying as its stage director, the production uncovers Jane Eyre's fight for freedom and fulfillment on her own terms as well as her love story with Rochester.
-- Concert "Victor Goines Quartet"
Location: Jazz at Lincoln Center Shanghai, Shanghai
Time: 7:15 p.m.
Clarinetist and saxophonist Vitor Goines is one of the most respected and multi-faceted musicians in the jazz world today. He has been a member of the Jazz At Lincoln Center Orchestra since 1993 and a leader of his quartet.
As a gifted composer, he has more than 100 original compositions and 50 arrangements for jazz orchestra and small ensembles to his credit. Together with pianist Jo Ann Daugherty and Bassist Christian Dillingham, the group will bring the audience a great show. Enditem
